James Slaymaker

James Slaymaker is a filmmaker, cinema scholar, and Teaching Fellow in Film Studies at Trinity College Dublin. He holds an MA (2018) and PhD (2022) in Film Studies from the University of Southampton. His articles have been published in Screen, BAFTSS Open Screens, Senses of Cinema, Bright Lights Film Journal, MUBI Notebook, Little White Lies, McSweeneys, Kinoscope, The Interactive Film and Media Journal, and others. His first book is Time is Luck: The Cinema of Michael Mann (Telos Publishing, 2022). His second book, the monograph Essay Cinema in the Digital Era was published in November 2024 by Palgrave MacMillan.
